Europe April 2010

Taken at Europe - France, Italy, Amsterdam..

Back in 2010. My Daughter (Sarah) was invited to go on an all expenses paid European trip by two of her (more than generous..) high school Teachers (Ben and Taryn). This put me in a “Damned if I do, Damned if I don’t.” position. After meeting Ben and Taryn and receiving a higher than “glowing” recommendation by both Sarah and Daniel (my Son). I (with some misgivings.. ) allowed Sarah to go off on her European adventure.

Ben wasn't very "well" during the trip over seas. You can see the swelling in his face is you look at the above images of the "trip". The following image is of Ben and Taryn (in better times..)

Seems Ben and Taryn have now "hit the wall" financially while trying to deal with Bens ongoing medical costs..
If you can help.. Or would like to pass the URL on..

Update: It is with much sadness that I report Ben has now lost his battle. Ben has died. The Doctors are still unsure what caused his health issues.

Our deepest sympathies go out to Taryn and family. Ben's kind heart will be missed by many. xx

Relationships

All my life I have been looking for a relationship where I could trust the other person. On occasion I have thought that I had found such a thing. But time has a habit of changing things and people. So I find myself alone again.

For awhile I took the attitude that “Humans will screw around.. If they think there is a good chance of not being caught”. This gave me a shocking outlook on life. But I slowly mellowed, changed my attitude and continued to look for love. As the years progressed, so did my encounters with the opposite sex.

Yet somehow I was never able to find someone who was happy with just me. Words of Love are easily spoken. But actions unfortunately don’t always coincide. As the gap between the two becomes larger. So does my annoyance with the relationship.

It seems the more you love a person. The more that person can upset you. I tend to give love everything. So disagreements are devestating to me. Not so the other person however.

Is this an indication that it’s a one sided love affair?

Somehow I seem to manage to be with people who can happily sleep without “making up”. But, I can’t sleep after a disagreement.

My mind just keeps going around and around. I fill in the “blanks” with the worst possible and convince myself that MUST be the reason. Which it invariably isn’t. But I still manage to work myself into a “state” over it.

As an INFP I tend to have “unrealistic expectations”. Which I am NOW aware of. Knowing this fact, I think, has the tendency to temper my judgement. However, when confronted with sarcasm, put downs, even childish “making fun” of physical defects by my partner, I just can’t take it.

I feel like the relationship must be a lie. How can my partner treat me this way if they love me?? I get upset that my partner would treat me in such a manner without knowing or careing about the huge impact this treatment has on me. It’s worse for me when the other person knows that I will meltdown. But does it anyway. I become depressed. How can someone love you but hurt you?

I hate conflict. But I hate living a lie in a loveless relationship more.

I guess this is why I am single.

What will your Australian MP say when they rise to tell Parliament what you think about same-sex marriage?

If they’re anything like Labor backbencher John Murphy, they may tell Parliament that you are “overwhelmingly against” equal marriage rights, and that any Government MP who thinks otherwise should leave the Labor party. At least, that’s what Mr. Murphy told the press yesterday.

In a couple of weeks, federal MPs will meet at a special session of Parliament to report on their constituents’ views of marriage equality.

Will they state that locals like you are against equal rights? Or will they report how they were flooded with messages of support, and recall the moving calls and meetings they had with local same-sex couples and their families, friends and supporters from every walk of life?

That’s up to us, and we have two weeks left. It takes just 90-seconds to place a phone call to their office – or to phone and request a meeting. Use our simple tool to find your MP’s phone number today:

Speaking to media yesterday, John Murphy MP, who will speak at the special session of Parliament, said that marriage equality has nothing to do with rights or equality.

But while our federal law sends out the message that it’s okay to discriminate on the grounds of sexual orientation and gender, and that same-sex partners are not capable of the level of love and commitment associated with marriage, the issue is entirely one of rights and equality. And while we allow out-of-touch MPs to front the media claiming the support of their electorate, those who oppose equality will win this fight.

That’s why we have to meet with MPs, face-to-face, and let them know we demand equality. If you’re in a same-sex relationship, if you’ve a friend or family member who is a gay or lesbian person, if you care about equality - now is the time to make your voice heard. It’s the most powerful thing we can do as constituents and it’s easy to do.

Click here to use our simple tool to find your MP’s phone number. Then give them a buzz and say you’d like to meet to find out where they stand on marriage equality, and to explain why it is important for the Marriage Act to be amended so same-sex couples can marry.

Once you have set a date, the meeting itself is easy. MPs are in their local electorate office over the next fortnight – and they’ve been specifically requested to consult with constituents about marriage equality. After all, representing you is their job!

Head to our page to find your MP’s contact details and information to help you through the meeting:

At the time of writing, same-sex couples in New York are for the first time celebrating their love through marriage.

In a steadfast and courageous campaign, ordinary Americans opened their hearts and compelled New York’s state MPs to accept gay and lesbian couples – and their love – as equal to others.

You can be part of this historic movement for change by taking the time to tell your MP that you demand an end to the disgraceful discrimination that actively excludes members of our community from demonstrating their love through marriage.

Tell them you want to live in a nation built on equality that celebrates the love shared between its citizens. Tell them that excluding gay and lesbian Australians from the institution of marriage fosters discrimination and deprives members of our community the same choices and benefits other Australians take for granted. Tell them that you look forward to hearing them report back on your views in Parliament next month.

Geez.. Must the some weird alignment of the stars or.. Maybe its biorythems.. I dont know what it is.. Maybe I’m just getting sick. Maybe I need to eat better. But the last week or so. I have been very much on edge. Just easily upset. This feeling has been manifesting all over my life. I been getting irrationally upset over small things.

Even tho I’m aware of the situation I dont seem to be able to shake this edgy feeling. I feel like a wound up spring all the time. Maybe its this election? Emotionally I do feel drained. I think I’m sick of waiting to see what corrupt side will fleece Australia for the next few years. Anyway I thought I better record that life is wearing me down.

Michael Jackson Sonnet by Sarah

Buoyant eyes, a star locked in time,
Your voice, notes of impossible grace.
Effortlessly you shine, heaven your eternal shrine,
Distant in actuality, the stance of time and space.

Freely floats dust from the unreachable stars,
Forever thank you for your love unprejudiced and sweet.
Whispering loneliness exposes your scars,
Your memory trapped hopelessly deep.

This noble life comes too young to rest,
Tainted minds oppose your reality.
Only now guilt reveals the loss of the best,
Seeing blissful memories of your life and humanity.

As we remember this unique star because,
He simply sought love, not applause.

A clip from ABC TV’s Catalyst science program about the creation of the ultimate Mammalian family tree. Is evolution finally proved?

The Mammalian family tree PDF can be downloaded here

Strong evidence for evolution are the 19,000+ Endogenous Retroviruses found in exactly the same positions in human & chimp DNA. As the video (below) points out, the only way this could have occurred is if we shared a common ancestor.
